ABOUT US

The Pretoria Capitals Ice Hockey club based in the Eastern Suburbs of Pretoria. We cater for anyone and everyone who is interested in ice hockey.

Ice Hockey is not only an extremely safe sport but also a sport based on sportsmanship and fair play.

We are locally affiliated to the Gauteng Ice Hockey Association and the South African Ice Hockey Federation. Internationally we are a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation who’s principles and primary mission are centered around the development and growth of the sport through fair play and respect.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN OUR RANKS

As an organization we provide the opportunity for participants who wish to compete and strive to be the very best but also, and no less importantly, the social player who just enjoys the game and only wishes to play for fun.

Our program begins at U10 level (5 yrs and up) and covers all the ages including ladies and a social 2nd Division group with the intention of developing high level athletes and recreational players alike.

Although the club is one which boasts some very decorated ice hockey players, we strive to create an environment which welcomes everyone regardless. If you want to be a National Player or just develop a love for the game, you will have a place at our club. We welcome you with open arms and encourage anyone to join this wonderful sport





COACHING & STAFF

Our coaching staff is headed up by Xander Botha. Xander is accredited Level 3 coach with  SAIHF. Together with his team of 9 other coaches we run practices which are fun and engaging. In all aspects of coaching and team leadership we encourage discipline and teamwork as our primary markers for success.

Our coaches care about individuals as much as the team with their sole mission being to develop not only successful ice hockey players but successful people too. We implement the same methodologies and practice continuum's as the most successful international programs found in ice hockey today. This places us in the forefront of ice hockey development in South Africa.



HOW TO JOIN

All players who wish to participate in league games will be required to register with the GIHA(Gauteng Ice Hockey Association) and the SAIHF (South African Ice Hockey Federation). This is a annual fee of R400. You can register with GIHA on the GIHA website by following this link https://www.giha.co.za/

Kit needed to play hockey: The club will help out with second hand/development kit to try out for up to 6 months, giving the player enough time to acquire their own kit.
